Fall Poetry

We all wrote a Fall poem and today we were able to decorate it using leaf rubbings. This was a fun fall writing activity and there were smiles all over the room while we completed it! Happy Fall!

Rainbow Fish

Today during reading workshop we discussed that when we read books, the author's intention is often to teach us an important life lesson. We listened to the story, Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister and then discussed the big idea or lesson that the author wanted us to learn from reading it. We did a great job with this and had fun while doing it! 

Gem Party!

We had our first gem party today! The class voted to have a board game, free drawing and interactive pumpkin carving on the smart board party! We had a blast!!

The two sounds of EA

Today we used the smart board to sort out EA words into short E sound and long E sound. We love using the smart board!

We also filled our gem jar today and earn a party for tomorrow. We decided to have a drawing, board game and smart board interactive pumpkin carving party! Wow....we will be busy! We will break into small groups and rotate through the three activities. 

Learning our doubles facts!

We have been working on learning our doubles facts through a fun song! Ask your child to sing it to you!

Publishing Party!

Here are some pictures from our publishing party on Friday! I am sorry they did not upload earlier for your viewing pleasure. The students did a wonderful job and it a fun for all to listen to the narrative writing pieces everyone completed!

Fire Safety!

Today we had a fire safety presentation! We   learned all about what to do if there is ever a fire in our house and we were able to see a firefighter all dressed up in his gear. After the presentation we went outside to see a     firetruck! We had a lot of fun! We were great listeners so they gave us all a Junior       Firefighter hat! Ask you child all about it! 

Writing Workshop

We are almost done with our first unit of writing! Today students worked with their writing partner to edit and correct the spelling in their writing. We will have a publishing party as a class soon and then our work will be displayed on our bulletin board for the school to read! We LOVE writing workshop!

New Math Game!

Today we played another math game called "Fishing for 10" which is similar to the game of Go Fish. In this game students ask their partner for a card that would help them create a combination of ten. Ask your child all about this game!
